6a. What this website sets, specifically
The sections above describe the categories we may use across all of our services. This section is narrower and states exactly what www.safercharging.co.uk does today.
Strictly necessary
These need no consent, because each exists only to do something you have asked for. None of them is ever sent to us or to anyone else; they stay in your browser.
- sc_consent (local storage). Records the choice you make in the cookie banner, so we do not have to ask again on every page. It holds nothing but that choice, the date you made it and a version number. It is the only item stored on any page before you have done anything at all. After 12 months we ask you again, and the new answer replaces it.
- sc_audit_draft (local storage). Only if you start filling in the Charge Point Audit form. It keeps what you have typed so that a refresh, or the trip to our payment page and back, does not lose it. Because it holds the details you entered, it is deleted as soon as the form is sent, and any draft older than 24 hours is discarded unread.
- sc_audit_paid (local storage). Only when you arrive back from our payment page carrying a payment reference. It holds that reference, so that if you leave before giving us your site details, the audit page reminds you instead of asking you to pay again. It is deleted as soon as your site details are sent.
- sc_email_builder_v1 (local storage). Only on our internal email builder, a staff tool, and only once someone edits an email there. It keeps the draft in that browser so it survives a refresh. Clear & start over replaces the draft with the blank template; the item itself stays until the browser's storage is cleared.
Fonts are served from this website itself, not from Google or any other font service, so viewing a page does not pass your IP address to anyone else.
Online payment
When you choose to pay for an audit online, the Pay now button takes you to a checkout page hosted by Stripe, our payment provider, on Stripe's own website. Stripe uses cookies there that are strictly necessary for taking a payment safely and preventing fraud, under Stripe's own cookie policy. Nothing from Stripe loads on this website.
Embedded video
Two pages, our installer partners page and our Arcane Charging Connect page, each carry a video hosted on YouTube, a Google service. Until you press play, the page shows only our own picture and play button, and nothing is loaded from YouTube or Google. Pressing play loads the video from YouTube's reduced-cookie address (youtube-nocookie.com). From that point YouTube receives your IP address and may store items in your browser, under Google's own cookie policy, to play the video you asked for. If you would rather not, simply do not press play.
Preferences
One item of session storage, named sc_intro_done, which records that you have already seen the opening animation on the home page so it does not replay. Stored only if you allow the preferences category, and removed if you later withdraw it.
Analytics
The Apollo website visitor tracker, supplied by Apollo.io. It records which pages are read, where a visit arrived from, and the organisation a network connection appears to belong to, which is how we tell whether our writing reaches the people it is written for.
Checked in a browser on 5 October 2026, it sets no cookies. It keeps three items in your browser's local storage: apolloAnonId, a random identifier for your browser, and two items whose names begin with our Apollo account number (6a706b111749480018d15f74_), which hold its working state. They stay until you withdraw analytics or clear your browser's storage.
The Apollo script is not loaded at all until you switch the analytics category on. Turning it off again stops it loading on every page from that point and clears the identifiers it stored on your device. A copy already running in an open tab cannot be recalled, so it stops when that page is closed or reloaded.
Marketing
Nothing. The category exists in the preferences panel so that it is already there if that ever changes, and it is switched off.
7. Managing Your Cookie Preferences
When you first visit our websites, you will be presented with a cookie preference banner.
You may choose to:
- accept all cookies;
- reject non-essential cookies;
- customise your cookie preferences.
You may also change your preferences at any time through our Cookie Settings tool, where available. On this website it is the Cookie settings link in the footer of every page, which reopens the preferences panel with your current choices shown.
8. Browser Controls
Most browsers allow you to:
- delete cookies;
- block cookies;
- receive notifications before cookies are stored;
- manage cookie permissions.
Instructions vary depending on your browser.
Blocking certain cookies may affect website functionality.
9. Consent
Where required by law, we will obtain your consent before placing non-essential cookies on your device.
You may withdraw your consent at any time by updating your cookie preferences.
Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing undertaken before consent was withdrawn.
10. Do Not Track
Some browsers provide a “Do Not Track” setting.
As there is currently no universally accepted standard for responding to these signals, our websites may not respond to all Do Not Track requests.
11. International Data Transfers
Where information collected through cookies is processed outside the United Kingdom, we will ensure appropriate safeguards are in place in accordance with applicable data protection legislation.
12. Changes to this Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect:
- changes in legislation;
- new technologies;
- operational changes;
- updates to our services.
The latest version will always be published on our websites.
