This week Safer Charging turned one year old and what better way to celebrate than with an exciting announcement.

I’m pleased to say I’ve been joined by an advisory board of incredible individuals, all sharing the Safer Charging vision where charge points are trusted to just work, safely.

All board members are joining as personal, part-time commitments outside of anything they may do in other professional roles you know them for. It’s a privilege to announce a selection of them here:

Chris Chandler has been a high-profile fleet management and sustainable transport consultant for nearly 30 years, working with organisations such as The Energy Saving Trust, HMRC, Go Ultra Low, OZEV, the BVRLA and ACFO/AFP.  He is a recognised expert in alternative fuels and electrification and has been in the GreenFleet 100 Most Influential people, for the last 7 years currently residing at number 26.

He is a multi-award-winning consultant who is a regular speaker or panel expert at conferences and events and is passionate about the transition to electric vehicles.

He has led industry innovations, has a strong commercial grounding, and practical approach in understanding what the market needs for successful EV transition.

With his experience of working with start-up companies in the sustainability sector, coupled with his respected industry presence, the Safer Charging Advisory Board is greatly benefited by Chris’ presence.

Alastair Marr started his company, Eyesore Merch, in 2011. They have since grown to become a global brand specialising in music and entertainment merchandise as well as physical audio in the form of vinyl records and CDs. They largely operate in the world of online retail selling via their own website as well as globally across Amazon & eBay marketplaces. They also appear at many major UK music festivals taking their wide range of products directly to live music fans.

With experience of starting and scaling an international brand, as well as e-commerce and distribution, Alastair brings valuable experience to the Safer Charging Advisory Board.

Andy Murdy

Andy Murdy has 30 years international health and safety experience within corporate and construction environments.

He has worked in the power sector for CEGB, Powergen, and E.ON in the UK, Europe, Asia, and the Americas. He also spent 6 years as Head of Health & Safety at Pod Point (now Pod), navigating a start-up to scale-up business, in a new sector, through both new and old challenges around people, behaviour and legislation.

Since 2012 he has been running his own consultancy providing services to Alstom, CLP (Hong Kong), E.ON, PSP Elsewedy (Egypt) and Siemens (UK, Asia, Africa) as well as a range of specialist clients in construction, manufacturing and the service industries.

Now focusing his efforts on the energy transition and EV charging space, Andy has shown continued commitment to a sustainable transition which puts user and technical safety at the heart of business operations.

Having been a champion for Safer Charging since the very beginning, instantly grasping the importance of the mission, I couldn’t be more delighted to have Andy join the Advisory Board.

So here we are one year on, and Monday is still my favourite day of the week.

Whilst so much has already happened in 12 months, I can’t wait to see what the next year brings with these fantastic people keeping me on my toes!
